    About renewing an electrical restricted licence

    You must renew your electrical restricted licence to continue to carry out some limited electrical work which is necessary for your normal work duties.

    Categories of an electrical restricted licence include:

    • refrigeration and air conditioning
    • instrumentation and control
    • electronics
    • water heaters
    • composite equipment
    • control devices
    • gas appliances
    • motors
    • explosion protection equipment.

    If you completed your training more than 3 years ago, you must contact TasTAFE or another registered training organisation to complete further training.

      Can I renew?

      You must:

      • be a fit and proper (PDF, 147KB) person
      • have explained why you need a restricted licence (a letter from your employer or a Statutory Declaration if you are self-employed)
      • have the relevant qualifications, training, competencies and experience for the type of electrical work you want to do.
