  • Livestock scanners are available at service centres in Beaconsfield, Burnie, Campbell Town, Currie, Deloraine, George Town, Huonville, Longford, New Norfolk, Oatlands, Scottsdale, Sheffield, Smithton, Sorell, St Helens and Whitemark.
  • You can book a scanner by calling or visiting a service centre.
  • You must be 18 or older and provide photo ID when picking up the scanner.
  • A late return will incur fees.

    About booking, hiring or returning a livestock scanner

    You can hire a livestock scanner for a maximum of 7 days.

    A livestock scanner, accessories and case must all be returned free from mud, dust or faecal matter.

    If a scanner is returned after 10:30am on the day it is due, the hirer must pay a late fee of $20. For every additional day the scanner is late, there will be another $50 fee.

    Scanners cannot be hired or returned on:

    • a weekend
    • a public holiday
    • any day that service centres are closed.

    What you need to book, hire or return

    To hire you must provide:

    • a form of photo identification
    • payment.

    When returning you must:

    • have cleaned the scanner
    • return all parts of the livestock scanner kit.

    If the scanner is returned dirty you will be charged for the cost of the cleaning. This is likely to be more than $200.

    You must be at least 18.

    Proving your identity

    You must provide photo identification showing your date of birth.

    How much it costs

    It costs $13.49 per day to hire.
